Future Dog Guides to Practice their Skill Under the Direction of “General”
At Niagara Parks  this Weekend

(Niagara Falls, ON Canada) The Niagara Parks Commission is pleased to host the 4th Annual Future Dog Guides Training Day at the Park this Saturday, June 23, 2007 at the Niagara Parks Butterfly Conservatory and the Journey Behind the Falls.

The largest training day yet, 44 adults and 24 future guide dogs will be in the park for training. Under the direction of beloved 'General', a well trained Yellow Labrador, 16 other Labradors, 4 Standard Poodles and 2 Miniature Poodles will test their skills in the park.

Of the Labs, a very special family will join the day.  Ribbon, Gracie, Noel, Kringle and North are from the same litter.  Born on Christmas Eve, the dogs were given Christmas names in lieu of names all starting with the same letter (i.e. General or Griffen.)

The purpose of the visit is to train future dog guides the skills of working in high traffic areas with many distractions for the purpose of providing a safe and enjoyable experience for their future clients.  The dogs will begin their day with a picnic in Queenston Heights Park then visit the Butterfly Conservatory, Journey Behind the Falls and Maid of the Mist.  The dogs will also travel on the Niagara Parks People Mover Buses throughout the day.
