Congratulations to 4th Annual Schools Marathon Challenge Winners

Niagara Falls, ON – The Niagara Parks Commission (NPC), presenting sponsor, along with The Niagara Falls International Marathon are pleased to announce the winners of the 4th Annual Schools Marathon Challenge held on Sunday, October 28, 2007: Jennifer Tessier, 12 years old in Grade 7 at St. Anthony’s School, St. Catharines, and Brandon Etzl, 13 years old in Grade 7 at Grapeview School, St. Catharines.

The school with the most participants in this year’s Schools Marathon Challenge was once again Mary Ward Catholic School, with 47 representatives including students, teachers and parents, running the 2.195 km race from Rapidsview Parking Lot to Table Rock Point at the brink of Niagara Falls. To recognize the hard work and training that these individuals exerted to get to the finish line, Pizza Pizza, a major sponsor of the Schools Marathon Challenge, will be awarding a Pizza Party at Mary Ward for marathon participants.

NPC would like to recognize all students, parents and volunteers for their enthusiastic involvement in the 4th Annual Schools Marathon Challenge. This year proved to be another huge success with almost 400 runners from grades 3-8 and more parents and teachers running with their kids than ever. Thanks to your support, we will continue to grow next year, so be sure to tell your friends and relatives and keep training!

This program, designed for school aged children supports the mandate for ACTIVE2010 - a comprehensive strategy to increase participation in sport and physical activity throughout Ontario.
