Battle of Culloden Re-enactment
Old Fort Erie
Join in the traditions of 18th century Scotland and experience the dramatic recreation of the 1745 Jacobite uprising at Old Fort Erie. There will be battle re-enactments, as well as traditional Scottish sport, dance, and food. Admission to battle re-enactments is free; regular admission applies for entrance to the Fort: $12.25 for adults, $7.95 for children 6-12. Children 5 and under admitted FREE. Honouring the War of 1812
Old Fort Erie
Fort Erie’s signature Bicentennial event will be the Grande Military Parade and Tattoo on Saturday June 23. This event will be the largest Grande Parade in North America, comprised of over 50 military marching bands from across Canada, the United States, and the United Kingdom. Running from the Fort Erie Sugar Bowl at the corner of Gilmore Rd. and Central Ave, all the way to Old Fort Erie, the parade will also include over 1,000 1812 re-enactors, parade floats, and displays. The jamboree will continue at Old Fort Erie with a Military Tattoo, and the night will conclude with a firework display designed to replicate the battles fought 200 years earlier. NO CHARGE. Come out and watch this one time re-enactment at Frenchman’s Creek to commemorate the 200th Anniversary of the battle that ended all hope of an early American victory in Canada. 2012 CN Canadian Women’s Tour Event
Legends on the Niagara Golf Course
One of the world’s premier developmental tours, the CN Canadian Women’s Tour continues to attract rising Canadian and international female golf professionals as well as top female amateurs. Many of Canada’s top professionals, including Lorie Kane and Alena Sharp as well as 2012 LPGA Tour members Rebecca Lee-Bentham and Maude-Aimée LeBlanc have competed on the CN Canadian Women’s Tour as a springboard to future success. The 2012 season will see events hosted at Richmond Country Club in Richmond, B.C., Club de golf Beloeil in Beloeil, Que. and Legends on the Niagara in Niagara, Ont. Total season prize money for 2012 is $180,000 (CDN); each championship purse will be $60,000 with the champion earning $10,000. As well, the top three players on the CN Canadian Women’s Tour season-ending order of merit will be awarded direct entry into Stage 2 of LPGA Qualifying School. All entry fees will be paid for Stage 2 and, if applicable, Stage 3 (up to a value of $4,000 each). NO CHARGE. Click for more information
