This is a sample collection of just a few of the practical horticulture training activities the students experience and gain proficiency in during our Ornamental Horticulture program.
The students are evaluated on horticultural skills, work performance and personal leadership.
Listening to instruction, watching a demonstration and then following through with the practice, encompasses all three learning modes: auditory, visual and tactile. Horticulture is a very practical profession and learning "first-hand" reinforces the acquired knowledge and skills.
Since its inception in 1936, horticultural excellence has been the focus of the School of Horticulture. Through mentoring, evaluating performance and encouraging improvement toward mastering a skill - our students are actively involved in a life-time practical experience that they will continue to develop and share with others for the rest of their lives.
Our Prospectus pages include a complete description of the practical training program.
