Majestic Monarchs Event Returns to the Butterfly Conservatory
Niagara Falls, ON – To celebrate the amazing two-way migration of the Monarch Butterfly from Canada to Mexico, the Niagara Parks Butterfly Conservatory will once again host Majestic Monarchs. This event will take place over two weekends, September 24 - 25 and October 1 - 2 as part of The Niagara Parks Commission’s new Harvest Fest event lineup.
Each day, visitors can learn about the Monarch’s lifecycle and conservation efforts being taken here in Niagara. This event is great for families with young children, who will have the option to make their own free Monarch themed crafts to take home. Candy Monarch Butterflies will also be available for $1, with all proceeds directly supporting the Monarch program.
Families are also invited to get out into the Niagara Parks Botanical Gardens to explore one of three Niagara Parks Certified Monarch Waystations to learn about the Monarch’s route. Waystations are also located at the Queenston Heights Meadows and Chinquapin Oak Savannah (north of the Botanical Gardens) restoration areas. An additional waystation is also being installed at Legends on the Niagara Golf in Chippawa.
The fully accessible Butterfly Conservatory is located at 2405 Niagara Parkway on the grounds of the Niagara Parks Botanical Gardens and School of Horticulture. Admission is $12.25 for adults, $7.95 for children ages 6 to 12 (taxes not included) and free for children 5 and under. Hours of operation are as follows: Monday - Friday from 10 a.m. - 5 p.m. and Saturday - Sunday from 10 a.m. - 6 p.m. Last ticket sold 30 minutes prior to closing.
