Upcoming Events at Niagara Parks
Niagara Falls, ON – The Niagara Parks Commission (NPC) has even more events planned for the coming week:
Grand Opening of the New Niagara Glen Nature Centre: Saturday, June 4 at 9:30 a.m.
NPC is pleased to announce exciting changes at the Niagara Glen with the grand opening of the new Nature Centre (previously known as The Feather in the Glen). A ribbon-cutting ceremony will take place at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday, June 4, followed by free guided tours of the Niagara Glen at 10 a.m. and 2 p.m.
Daily hiking tours and bicycle rentals will now be available throughout the season at the centre, and visitors are invited to explore new educational displays including “Animals of the Glen”, nature and geology “touch tables” and interpretive panels on the flora and geology of the Niagara Glen. Hand carved wood products by Master Carver Frank Kim, framed artwork by local artist Paul Augustino and paintings by members of the Parkway Artists Guild are also on sale at the centre.
The Friends of the Niagara Glen group will also host a clean-up event on June 4 from
10 a.m. - 3 p.m. All are welcome to join the group at the park entrance to the Niagara Glen at the top of the main access stairs. Those planning to spend the afternoon at the Niagara Glen are encouraged to bring their own bagged lunch and refillable water bottles. Annual Spring BBQ at Queenston Heights: Sunday, June 5 from 4 – 8 p.m.
The Annual Spring BBQ at Queenston Heights will return on Sunday, June 5 from 4 - 8 p.m. on the patio at the foot of Brock’s Monument. This popular event to support the Greater Niagara General Hospital Foundation and the future Walker Family Cancer Centre boasts an irresistible menu created by NPC’s world-renowned chefs. Features include locally sourced fare such as Carved Ontario Lamb Loin Wellington, Pulled Pork in Forty Creek Whisky BBQ Sauce and a “Spud Bar” where you can build your own stuffed potato with our Chef’s delicious toppings.
Other popular tasting stations will include representatives from Jackson Triggs, Chateau des Charmes, Inniskillin, Molson and Kittling Ridge Estate Wines & Sprits.
All are invited to mingle and savour the delicious menu selections while enjoying live outdoor entertainment by the Boland Brothers. Tickets are $30 for adults and $18 for children (12 and under) plus applicable taxes and gratuity. Cash bar is available. Tickets are limited, so please call (905) 262-4276 to reserve your space.
