Upcoming Events at Niagara Parks
NIAGARA FALLS, ON — The Niagara Parks Commission (NPC) is pleased to offer an exciting lineup of family events as everyone begins to prepare for the holidays.
Take a Festive Trip Back in Time
Our modern Christmas celebrations have come a long way from their roots, but many of the traditions we observe today were also common in Upper Canada in the 19th century. Visit Niagara Parks Heritage Sites to experience the Christmas traditions of the past.
November 26 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
“Our Festive Fort” Open House at Old Fort Erie
350 Lakeshore Rd. Fort Erie, Ontario
Experience how a British soldier stationed at Fort Erie marked the holidays. Father Christmas will visit the Fort, which will have its rooms decorated with holiday style. Crafts for children and holiday treats will also be available. Adults are ½ price for the day, and children under 12 are free when accompanied by an adult (Regular prices before tax: Adults $12.25, Children 6 to 12 years $7.95).
November 26, 27 and December 3 from 12 to 4 p.m.
Christmas Open House at Laura Secord Homestead
29 Queenston Street, Queenston, Ontario
See how a typical Upper Canada homestead would be decorated for Christmas. Visitors can enjoy hot chocolate or cider, an old fashioned cookie recipe and other treats. There will also be crafts for kids and exhibits of Christmas past. Admission (before tax): Adults $9.50, Children (6 to 12 years) $6.25. Children 5 years and under admitted for Free at all Niagara Parks attractions!

A McFarland Christmas at McFarland House
15927 Niagara Parkway, Niagara-on-the-Lake, Ontario
Victorian Christmas comes to life! In partnership with the Garden Club of Niagara and the Niagara-on-the-Lake Rotary Holiday House Tour, A McFarland Christmas features hundreds of homemade cookies, hot chocolate and mulled cider to be enjoyed while taking in the all-natural historic decorations that adorn the circa 1800 house, Niagara Parks’ oldest property. Admission (before tax): Adults $5, Children (6 to 12 years) $3.75.A variety of other events are also happening as part of the new Niagara Parks Winter Wonderland:
November 24 - 27 from noon to 8 p.m.
Niagara Parks Winter Wonderland
Visit the Victorian Candy Land at Queen Victoria Place and take a ride on a winter carousel overlooking the Falls ($3 a ride, tax included). While there, stop in and enjoy a cup of hot chocolate or make your own s'mores over an open fire. Meet the whimsical Snowflake Honour Guard at the Ice Castle (also known as Table Rock Welcome Centre). This elegantly decorated castle will feature the designs of Niagara Parks Horticulture Team. Winter Wonderland Tours
Let us do the driving this weekend and enjoy a guided holiday tour of Niagara Parks Winter Wonderland. The tour will provide the ability to step on and step off at some of Niagara Parks key Winter Wonderland Attractions. In addition, the tour offers all the enjoyment of the lighting displays within the CAA Winter Festival of Lights. The Festival’s 5-kilometre lighting route consists of more than 120 animated lighting displays made up of 3 million individual lights. Cost $5 per person. Tickets can be purchased at Victoria Park Gift Shop and Table Rock Welcome Centre.
“A Butterfly Christmas” at the Niagara Parks Butterfly Conservatory
2405 Niagara Parkway, Niagara Falls, Ontario
Visit the Butterfly Conservatory this season to bask in the tropical warmth. For the holiday season, a Christmas Tree will be adorned with ornaments made of natural materials and the Conservatory will feature fabulous displays prepared by the Master Gardeners of Niagara. The official tree lighting will take place on November 25 at 2 p.m.
For the first three weekends of December, The Butterfly Conservatory will also feature seasonal crafts for the family to do together and take home for the holidays (crafts $2 each). Regular admission applies (before tax) : Adults $12.25, Children 6 to 12 years $7.95. Hours of Operation: Monday - Friday 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.; Saturday & Sunday 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
