Power Station Tunnel Platform

Next, visit Niagara Parks’ newest way to view Niagara Falls at the Niagara Parks Power Station. Located 180 feet beneath the Power Station is the Tunnel. What was once a tunnel to drain water from the Power Station, is now a fully accessible viewing platform to view both the American and Horseshoe Falls.  

While there, learn all about the history of hydropower generation throughout the fully accessible Power Station. Full of interactive exhibits outlining the pioneers of hydropower and the role Niagara Falls played in it, and both guided and self-guided tours, you’ll discover the angle of Niagara Falls that has powered the region for over 115 years.  

Get close to Niagara River at White Water Walk

Stand right next to some of the most powerful rapids in North America at the White Water Walk. Travel by elevator down 70 metres to reach the base of the Niagara Gorge, where you can head down a quarter mile boardwalk alongside the class 6 white water rapids of the Niagara River. As you make your way along the fully accessible boardwalk, you’ll learn stories about the geology and nature of the Niagara Gorge, and take in the breathtaking views of the Niagara River.  

Want to get even closer to some of the most powerful rapids in North America? Branching off from the boardwalk are several viewing platforms that allow you to get up close to the Whirlpool Rapids. While you’re here, don’t forget to take lots of photos! This location provides some of the best photo opportunities in the entire park!

Soar above Niagara River on the Whirlpool Aero Car

After you’ve seen the class 6 Whirlpool Rapids of the Niagara River up close, head to the Whirlpool Aero Car, for a 3,500-foot journey across the Niagara Gorge. Built in 1916, this Aero Car gives you a unique bird’s eye view of one of the world’s most mesmerizing natural phenomena, and a magnificent view down the Niagara Gorge.
