COOKS & CHEFS APPRENTICE DINNER
Since 1885, Niagara Parks has preserved the natural, historical, cultural and culinary experiences of the Niagara River Corridor for millions of visitors to experience. For the past twelve years, we’ve been making that experience even more flavourful with our Cooks and Chefs Apprentice Dinner as we seek to tell the culinary story of Niagara Parks, one that finds its flavours rooted in local growers, brewers, producers, and providers.
Tonight’s menu is created in partnership between Niagara Parks’ chefs and apprentices, who work together year-round at our five full-service restaurants, serving visitors locally sourced cuisine alongside awe-inspiring attractions, War of 1812 heritage sites, and award-winning golf courses. The dinner gives apprentice cooks the opportunity to demonstrate their passion alongside Niagara Parks Culinary experts, with proceeds from the evening going to support the Niagara Parks Apprentice Cooks scholarship fund.
QUEENSTON HEIGHTS RESTAURANT
The Cooks and Chefs Apprentice Dinner is held annually at Niagara Parks’ oldest restaurant, Queenston Heights, which was established on the Niagara Parkway in 1900. Nestled high atop the Niagara Escarpment, many consider this to be the birthplace of Niagara Falls and families, nature lovers and picnickers have enjoyed this park for generations.
The event also highlights the Feast On accreditation that all five of Niagara Parks’ restaurants have received from the Culinary Tourism Alliance. Feast On restaurants must buy a minimum of 25% Ontario food product, feature a minimum of 25% Ontario beverages and be committed to showcasing Ontario’s unique tastes of place by promoting Ontario products through partnerships and participation in community events supporting this mandate. Through the program, Niagara Parks is supporting and profiling Ontario foods and beverages, bringing particular focus to the Niagara region and our local producers.
