Hitting from a Fairway Bunker

Finding yourself in a fairway bunker is a situation that can intimidate many golfers, particularly when the green is still a long distance away. The first step in taking on this challenge is selecting the correct club. Based solely on distance many golfers will opt for a fairway wood, however this often will not provide the requisite loft to escape the lip of the bunker.

For most amateur players a rescue club is the best option in these circumstances. Don’t worry about being too precise with these shots, just try to place close to the green and focus on making sure you safely escape the hazard.
