School of Horticulture Fees & Deposits

All rates and fees are subject to change. Students are required to pay the following fees in order to retain active student status:

DAMAGE & TOOL REPLACEMENT FUND
Payable to The Niagara Parks Commission: $400.00
Payable on acceptance. This amount, less any charges for loss or damage to The Niagara Parks Commission property and less disciplinary fines will be refunded at graduation. Students who withdraw or who do not succeed in the Program, forfeit this.

TUITION FEES
Payable to The Niagara Parks Commission: $1,000.00 annually (up to 2009). a) Tuition Fees for first year students are payable in full on or before the date of admission. Students will not be permitted to begin the Program unless fees are paid. Second and third year tuition fees will be due and payable on or before April 15th of each year or due and payable in two instalments on or before April 15th and September 15th of each year. Students will not be allowed to proceed in the Program if fee payments are delinquent. It is the student’s responsibility to find funds to pay fees on the date due. Students should be aware that student assistance programme payments are neither definite or reliable, and arrangements or document queries can delay assistance payment for months. Delays in student assistance subsidies are not acceptable excuses for non-payment of fees due.

b) 2009 Foreign student tuition: $5,000.00 annually

STUDY TOUR EXPENSES
Payable to The Niagara Parks Commission.
Each student is responsible for mandatory study tour expenses which are not included in tuition fees. Exact amounts are determined when study tour plans are confirmed. Use the following as a minimum guideline for budget purposes:

a) First year $ 100.00
b) Second year $ 700.00
c) Third year (International Tour) $ 2,750.00

Note: These are payable at the beginning of each school year in April and subject to
change with notice. Each student is responsible for their own personal expenses during
the study tour.

ST. JOHN’S AMBULANCE FIRST AID COURSE
Payable to The Niagara Parks Commission: approx. $55.00
This course is mandatory for all new students and the fee is payable in full on or before the day of admission or student must have had first aid and CPR. training within the previous twelve months and present valid first aid/CPR certification.

BOOKS, TOOLS AND SUPPLY DEPOSIT
Payable to School of Horticulture Bookshop: $3,000.00
a) The amount payable shall be deposited on or before February 7th for all first year students.
b) Second and third year students will be given 30 days notice, should additional amounts be needed because of price changes.
c) Students will not be allowed to proceed in the Program if bookshop fees are delinquent.

* Note: Any photocopy fees are additional to this and are charged at 5 cents per copy and will be approximately $50.00 per year.

STUDENT ASSOCIATION
Payable to School of Horticulture Student Association: $200.00
Mandatory and payable on or before day of admission, this fee includes a student membership to the professional organization, Landscape Ontario. The School reserves the right to apply such penalties for delinquency as provided for all other fees.

PENALTIES FOR FAILURE TO PAY FEES
Failure to meet these financial obligations may result in suspension of class attendance, withdrawal of Residence privileges, interest charges, withholding of diploma and transcripts at the discretion of the School Superintendent. All fees are subject to change at the beginning of each new School year.

OTHER FEES
Supplemental Exams:
Supplemental examinations, special examinations, special presentations and re-read papers will be charged a fee of $70.00 per paper, test or presentation.
Transcript: A fee of $25.00 will be charged for a Transcript of Record. An official transcript may be requested by submitting a letter along with payment or in person at the School Administrative Building. The turn-around time for an official transcript is three to five days.
Diploma Replacement: A fee of $25.00 will be charged for re-issuing a School Diploma.
