A number of awards, internal scholarships, industry-based scholarships and bursary opportunities are available to students studying at the Niagara Parks School of Horticulture. Some of these include:
The Brantford Garden Club Bedding Plant Award
Designed to assist two students from the incoming class as their journey begins at the school.
Edward J. Hill NPD ‘48 Memorial Scholarship Award
Awarded to a graduating student who achieves the highest combined mark in Theory of Arboriculture Practice, Urban Arboriculture, and PID V, VI.
Niagara Falls Horticultural Society Award
Awarded to a first year student who achieves the highest combined mark in the first year academic and practical training program.
Niagara Parks Commission General Proficiency Award
Awarded to a graduating student who has made significant contributions to the school while maintaining high overall academic and practical achievement.
Niagara Parks Commission Botany Award
Awarded to a graduating student who achieves the highest total cumulative mark in: Botany, PlD I, II, III, IV, V, VI and Plant Propagation.
Norman E. McCollum NPD ‘69 Scholarship
This bursary is awarded to a student finishing their second year of studies to support their horticultural education and assist in covering third year academic expenses.
Randy Lidkea, NPD ‘67 Canadian TREE Fund Scholarship
Awarded to a graduating student who achieves the highest combined marks in Theory of Arboriculture Practices and Urban Arboriculture, Tree Climbing & Operations, Principles of Soils and Advanced Horticultural Soils, and Plant Identification IV, V, and VI.
Master Gardeners of Niagara Award
Awarded to a second year student who achieves the highest mark in Fruit and Vegetable Culture and Applied Vegetable Production.
The Ontario Rock Garden and Hardy Plant Society’s Bursary
Awarded to a second year student in good standing with a current GPA of 3.0 or higher.
Beatrice Catharine Martin Scholarship
Awarded to two third year students who each have the highest combined mark in Commercial Greenhouse Production and Tropical Plants.
Ontario Parks Association Student Award of Recognition
Awarded to a graduating student committed to the protection of parks and environment, and dedication to horticulture by respect for green space and natural heritage.
Niagara Parks Commission Landscape Design Award
Awarded to a graduating student who achieves the highest total cumulative mark in: Landscape Design Process, Landscape Design Fundamentals, Advanced Landscape Design and Landscape Master Planning.
