What we Do
What We Do
The Niagara Parks Foundation will support the following key initiatives:
1. The Children’s Garden
This feature is a key part of the master plan for the renowned Niagara Parks Botanical Gardens. The Garden’s components will engage children (and their families!) to learn more about nature, gardens and outdoor recreation. The garden will combine education and fun and begin a lifelong love of gardens!
2. Environmental Stewardship projects
- Moraine Restoration Project (Queen Victoria Park)
- Grassland Habitat restoration
- Coastal Wetland restoration along the Niagara River
- Dufferin Islands
- Pollinator Gardens
- Species at Risk
The Foundation Research Fund will undertake research initiatives that support environmental and cultural stewardship initiatives. Projects will be determined annually.
4. Heritage Restoration
Niagara Parks has a number of heritage properties, materials and landscapes that require stewardship. These include buildings, structures, stone walls, iron works, and unique landscapes.
Niagara Parks oversees the Niagara River Recreation Trail as well as natural trails ranging from portions of the Bruce Trail, Niagara Glen and desired walking and cycling trails in identified locations such as Queen Victoria Park.
