Awards

A number of awards, internal scholarships, industry-based scholarships and bursary opportunities are available to students studying at the Niagara Parks School of Horticulture. Some of these include:

Alumni Association Foundation- Knut Mattais Broman Award

Awarded to the graduating student with the highest total combined marks in their third year academic and practical training programs

Alumni Association Foundation- Joan Brunt Memorial Student Perseverance Award

Presented to the student who, in the opinion of the faculty, demonstrates the finest combination of accomplishments, tenacity, and perseverance throughout their academic journey while enrolled in the three year program at the NPC School of Horticulture.

Niagara Parks Commission Graduate Recognition Award

Awarded to the graduating student who showed the greatest amount of personal growth and improvement in academic and applied programs.

James Allen Award

Presented to the graduating student with the highest cumulative marks in Landscape Master Planning.

Class of ’82 Fellowship Award

Awarded to the graduating student who has greatly contributed to school spirit and general fellowship of the student body.

Alumni Association Foundation- Edward J. Hill NPD ’48 Memorial Scholarship Award

Awarded to the graduating student who achieved the highest combined mark in the Theory of Arboriculture, Urban Arboriculture, and Plant ID Level 3 courses.

Master Gardeners of Niagara Professional Leadership Award

Recognizes the achievements of a current 3rd Year student who has made a difference in the community while achieving their academic goals.

Niagara Parks Commission Graduate General Proficiency Award

Awarded to the graduating student with the highest combined marks in the academic and applied program, in addition to demonstrating a priority of helping fellow students.

Randy Lidkea NPD ’67 Canadian Tree Fund Scholarship

Awarded to the graduating students with the highest cumulative marks in Theory of Arboriculture, Urban Arboriculture, Tree Climbing, Soils and Hydrology, and Plant ID Level 3 courses.

Alumni Association Foundation- Seymour Howard Schott Memorial Award

Awarded to the graduating student who achieved the highest mark in the Mentorship Program.

Niagara Parks Commission Botany Award

Awarded to the student with the highest cumulative marks in Botany and Plant Taxonomy, Plant Propagation, and all Plant ID courses over the 3 year program

Niagara Parks Commission Landscape Design Award

Awarded to the graduating student with the highest cumulative marks in Fundamental of Landscape Design, Advanced Landscape Design, and Landscape Master Planning courses.

Plant Health Care Award

Awarded to the graduating student who has shown the most dedication to plant health care over three years of the program.
