​​Niagara Parks to Host Official Finish Line for Annual Barrelman Triathlon on September 17

  • Lane closures required to facilitate the annual 110-kilometre triathlon event

Niagara Falls, ON – Niagara Parks is proud to host the official finish line at Kingsbridge Park for the annual Niagara Falls Barrelman Triathlon, presented through MultiSport Canada. Barrelman Niagara Falls is one of the largest events of its kind in North America and serves as a unique opportunity to share the stunning views and landscapes across Niagara Parks and the entire Niagara region with over 9,000 athletes and their families each year.

Scheduled road closures to facilitate the Niagara Falls Barrelman Triathlon will be in effect on Sunday, September 17, 2023, from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. as follows:

Niagara Parkway – Full closure of the Niagara Parkway from Upper Rapids Boulevard, south to the Portage Road intersection at Macklem Street;

Single southbound lane closure of the Niagara Parkway from Fraser Hill to Upper Rapids Boulevard;

Dufferin Islands – Access to Dufferin Islands, including access via Burning Springs Hill Road, will be closed to all vehicular traffic;

Portage Road – Lane closures along Portage Road, including Chippawa’s Weightman Bridge, may begin as early as 6 a.m. and will be fully re-opened by 7 p.m. as the final participants complete the course.

Additional road closures within the City of Niagara Falls may be in effect during this event, causing delays. For updates, please visit niagarafalls.ca.

Additional Helpful Information

Chippawa Residents – Residents of Rapids View Drive and Bukator Drive will be provided access during the closure, with the assistance of the Niagara Parks Police Service;

Visitor Services – Niagara Falls WEGO buses, Niagara Parks’ Table Rock Centre, Floral Showhouse, Falls Parking Lot and Fraser Hill overflow parking will all remain open and accessible to visitors.
