Fort Erie, ON – Niagara Parks, in partnership with the Niagara Parks Foundation, will host an all-ages community tree planting event on Saturday, October 28, to bring all generations together in pursuit of a greener future.

From 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., Old Fort Erie will be the site for Niagara Parks’ Community Tree Planting Day, where members of the community are encouraged to participate in a local reforestation project to replace a number of ash trees that have been removed from the area.

This free, family-friendly event offers a unique opportunity for area residents to contribute to Niagara Parks’ annual goal of planting 5,000 trees across its properties to achieve 35% canopy cover by 2028, as a part of its Urban Forestry Management Strategy. Niagara Parks staff will provide the trees, tools and guidance to enable participants to plant their trees.

The Community Tree Planting Day is hosted in collaboration with Forests Ontario and is made possible through donations received through the Niagara Parks Foundation and the Toonies for Trees program. The Toonies for Trees initiative allows members of the public to donate directly to Niagara Parks’ tree planting efforts through the Foundation. The program has raised over $20,000 to date.
