Niagara Parks to Host Start and Finish Line for Annual Niagara Falls Marathon

  • Scheduled road closures are planned along the Niagara Parkway from 5 a.m. to approximately 5 p.m. on October 22, 2023

Niagara Falls, ON – Niagara Parks is proud to host the annual Niagara Falls Marathon, voted one of the most scenic marathons in Canada, offering runners of all levels stunning views throughout the Niagara River corridor.

Niagara Parks will once again participate by providing the official start and finish line at the spectacular Toronto Power Generating Station overlooking the Falls on Sunday, October 22, 2023.

To ensure the safety and success of the races, the Niagara Parks Police Service will assist with scheduled road closures along sections of the Niagara Parkway, from 5 a.m. until the last participant runs past each adjoining intersection through to approximately 5 p.m.

Scheduled Road Closures

Niagara Parks kindly requests residents and businesses to take note of the following road closures and plan accordingly:

Niagara Parkway – Full road closure of the Niagara Parkway from Thompson Road, Fort Erie to Upper Rapids Boulevard, Niagara Falls;

The northbound lanes of the Niagara Parkway from Fraser Hill to Upper Rapids Boulevard will be closed to all vehicular traffic, with the southbound lanes of the Niagara Parkway within this section remaining open and operating in an opposing traffic manner to allow for both north and southbound traffic;

Dufferin Islands – All vehicular access to Dufferin Islands, including public washrooms, will be closed for the day.

Additional Helpful Information

Residents – Residents along the Niagara Parkway will be provided access during the closure, with the assistance of the Niagara Parks Police Service and course marshals;

Parking Access – Access to Niagara Parks’ Falls Parking Lot (Lot A) and the Floral Showhouse Parking Lot (Lot B) will remain open; Rapidsview Parking Lot (Lot C) will be closed for the day to service the event;

Public Transportation – Northbound WEGO bus pick-up opposite the Floral Showhouse will not be available during the event; all other WEGO bus service operations will remain unaffected.
