Niagara Falls, ON – Dine under the brilliant light of the winter full moon and take in captivating views of the snow-covered fairways of Whirlpool Golf Course, which has opened for the first time as the Great Canadian Winter Lodge this season. Taking place on Saturday, February 8, 2020, from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m., Niagara Parks’ Full Moon Dinner presents a five-course menu of elevated comfort foods alongside seasonal cocktails, local craft beer and VQA wine selections.
Inspired by Niagara Parks’ culinary philosophy of celebrating local food and drink, the Full Moon Dinner begins with a warm-up cocktail reception with spiked hot chocolate, traditional mulled wine and other local beverages, served with warm hors d’oeuvres including a rich baked Gunn’s Hill brie with a Jordan cherry and red currant compote.
The mouth-watering menu then continues through five courses including a savoury Table Rock 1885 ale and Woodstock cheddar soup, as well as braised beef ribeye, venison and bison over roasted root vegetables, a cabernet sauvignon glaze, Yukon mashed potatoes and a Yorkshire pudding cup. A dessert of honey crisp baked apple crumble with vanilla bean ice cream completes the meal as guests take in the serene, tree-lined landscape illuminated by the light of the full moon.
For those interested, there will also be the opportunity for a true Great Canadian Winter Lodge experience at the Full Moon Dinner with the option of trying on snowshoes and stepping out on the moonlit trails. These adjustable snowshoes fit over regular winter boots.
