Niagara Falls, ON – Niagara Parks is investing in its flagship Table Rock Centre through a multi-million-dollar redevelopment project to fully renew its retail, culinary and attraction offerings and better enhance the true sense of arrival and experience for the millions of guests who begin their travel journeys at Table Rock each year.
One of Niagara Parks’ most famous and well-known sites, the historic Table Rock Centre is perched atop the Canadian Horseshoe Falls, acting as an important gathering point and hub of activity for visitors from throughout the world. The planned renovations will improve the facility both from a visual perspective, including updated designs and aesthetics, as well as improve the overall guest experience, by enhancing retail and culinary offerings, addressing movement and circulation and providing much-needed upgrades to guest amenities at this high-traffic location.
Table Rock Shop
Construction on the north retail store at Table Rock began on November 19, 2018. To accommodate the closure, Niagara Parks has remerchandised its other retail operations at this facility, which remain open during the construction. When the retail store reopens in the spring of 2019, it will become known as Table Rock Shop, referencing the store’s new design, which pays tribute to the original Table Rock House (circa 1925), all while providing a clean, contemporary aesthetic that will enhance the shopping experience for guests.
Closure of Elements on the Falls for Renovations
Beginning on January 1, 2019, Niagara Parks will also close its Elements on the Falls Restaurant to begin renovations, with Queen Victoria Place Restaurant set to open during the closure. To better assist visitors, Niagara Parks will be offering a dedicated shuttle from Table Rock to Queen Victoria Place. Table Rock House Restaurant
In the spring of 2019, Elements, Niagara Parks’ signature culinary venue, will reopen as Table Rock House Restaurant, offering a unique and memorable dining experience that focuses on the unforgettable view of the Canadian Horseshoe Falls, within a natural, yet timeless contemporary setting. The new aesthetic of the dining room will be designed to evoke the environment, featuring cleft, stacked stone and rustic wood finishes combined industrial accents such as brass and copper to help tell the story of the building’s original 1925 construction. The design speaks to Niagara Parks’ culinary philosophy of celebrating and sourcing ingredients from local purveyors across the Niagara region and province of Ontario, as well as to Niagara Parks’ overall brand and mandate of environmental and cultural preservation.
The first phase of construction activity at Table Rock Centre has been planned for the fall and winter of 2018, with subsequent construction phases taking place thereafter. Future construction projects include the redevelopment Table Rock’s lower level Quick Serve operations, the conversion of Pop & Lolly’s store to a bistro space, upgrades to the Horseshoe Landing Patio, the enclosure of the building’s west side concourse and improvements to the Journey Behind the Falls attraction.
As a self-funded agency of the provincial government, Niagara Parks identified the redevelopment of Table Rock as a key priority within its new 10-year Strategic Plan and will be funding the multi-million-dollar investment entirely through revenues generated by Niagara Parks operations. The phased project will involve the collaboration between Niagara Parks staff and contractors and subcontractors from across the Niagara region, which have been secured through an open and transparent procurement process. The Table Rock initiative is designed to help meet the Commission’s overall goal of becoming one of the most spectacular Parks in the world and is a further example of the significant impact of Niagara Parks both as a tourism organization and major employer within the Niagara region.
