The Niagara Parks Commission is pleased to present an exciting schedule of garden-themed events as part of its second Rooted in the Garden celebration, showcasing the natural, cultural and culinary profile of the Niagara region, set against the stunning natural landscapes found within Niagara Parks.
The second installment of Rooted will provide visitors with an experience that combines the breathtaking lushness of the Niagara Parks Botanical Gardens, with interactive and informative programming featuring local artists, Niagara Parks horticultural professionals and culinary experts, combined with the numerous community nature and garden clubs, which work closely with Niagara Parks.

Parkway Artists’ Guild Public Art Show
10 a.m. – 6 p.m.
Friday, September 8 to Sunday, September 10
School of Horticulture Lecture Hall
A special Rooted in the Garden Parkway Artists’ Guild juried art exhibition featuring local and guest artists will take place at the Niagara Parks School of Horticulture Lecture Hall beginning on Friday, September 8 through to Sunday, September 10.
Floral Art Demonstrations and Workshops
10 a.m. – 5 p.m.
Saturday, September 9
The Butterfly Conservatory Exhibit Hall
Join guest artists Rebecca Montemurro and Karen Logan for an interactive floral art demonstration held within the Exhibit Hall at the Butterfly Conservatory. There will also be family-friendly craft workshops held within the Botanical Gardens led by members of the Parkway Artists’ Guild.
Garden Club of Niagara Floral Show
10 a.m. – 6 p.m.
Saturday, September 9 to Wednesday, September 13
The Butterfly Conservatory Exhibit Hall
A special floral show led by the Garden Club of Niagara will be displayed throughout the Exhibit Hall at the Butterfly Conservatory from Saturday, September 9 through to Wednesday, September 13.
Majestic Monarch Release Event
10 a.m. – 3 p.m.
Saturday, September 9 to Sunday, September 10
Butterfly Garden Plaza
This two-day event provides an opportunity for visitors to learn more about the monarch butterfly lifecycle, its migration patterns, and the challenges they face. Learn how you can help with conservation efforts, and throughout the day take part in monarch tagging demonstrations and releases, which will be held in the gardens, as the monarchs begin their incredible journey south.

Sunday, September 10
Niagara Parks School of Horticulture Veranda
Enjoy an afternoon tea on the veranda at the School of Horticulture, with freshly baked goods and a selection of local teas provided by McFarland House. Tickets may be purchased at the Butterfly Café.
Garden Club of Niagara Floral Design Demonstration

The Butterfly Conservatory Exhibit Hall
An experienced demonstrator of Floral Design, Lizzie Matheson, leads an interactive floral design demonstration.
Pop-up Dinner

Oakes Garden Theatre
A Rooted edition of Niagara Parks’ popular Pop-up Dinner series will take place on Thursday, September 21 at Oakes Garden Theatre. The dinner will feature a four-course, wine-paired meal prepared by Niagara Parks’ Culinary team, including inventive dishes highlighting the seasonal flavours of Niagara. All Rooted in the Garden shows, workshops and demonstrations are free to attend. The Tea with Jam and Pop-up Dinner are ticketed events.
