Toronto Power, Sound & Light Show
Nov 19 - Jan 31
Completed in 1906 the Toronto Power Generating Station was a key piece to Ontario’s energy production through the first half of the 20th century. The plant closed in 1974 and in 1983 it was designated as a National Historic Site of Canada. In 2007 ownership of the plant was transferred to the Niagara Parks Commission who were tasked with re-purposing this spectacular piece of Canadian History. Watch as the historic Toronto Power Generating Station is transformed by a spectacular sound and lights show with dancing colours and patterns moving in time to holiday music broadcasted locally on 100.5FM!
Life on Display
Dec 1 - 31
Whether flowers, plants, gardens or homes, communities, or civilizations, we often forget the complicated biological structures or engineered architecture that goes into them. Even more, we forget how similar these “structures” are, as though we inherently draw inspiration for the things we build from the natural world. This exhibit features both lifelike representations of real structures, as well as abstract, and imaginative reinterpretations of seemingly simple architectural miniatures. In the dramatic backdrop of the classic Niagara Parks Floral Showhouse, this exhibit opens ideas and dialogue on the fascinating parallels in built environments, whether biological or man-made.
