- Niagara Parks’ Whirlpool Golf Course set to open during winter months with snowshoeing, cozy comfort foods and special events throughout the season
Niagara Falls, ON – For the first time ever, Niagara Parks will open its renowned Whirlpool Golf Course during the winter months as the Great Canadian Winter Lodge, offering snowshoe rentals, winter trail access, and a specially crafted menu with comfort food and drinks on weekends from December 28, 2019 through to March 29, 2020 (weather permitting).
Niagara Parks’ marked trails at Whirlpool Golf Course meander through snow-dusted trees that line sections of the golf course, named for its iconic location above the Niagara River Whirlpool. Self-guided short, medium and long trails offer visitors of all skill levels an opportunity to enjoy spectacular winter sights along the scenic Niagara Parkway at their own pace.
Warm up after a day on the trails inside the cozy atmosphere of the Whirlpool Clubhouse, which will be transformed into the Great Canadian Winter Lodge. Enjoy classic Canadian comfort foods and hot beverages, as well as a selection of local craft beer, cider and VQA wine, while you take in the serene winter landscape around you.
The Great Canadian Winter Lodge offers new ways for guests to experience winter in Niagara Parks, from the stunning ice formations of the “Frozen Falls” to the glistening winter landscapes of the Niagara Glen and Niagara River Whirlpool. Special events and workshops throughout the season focus on health and wellness, inviting guests to reconnect with nature and energize themselves during the brisk winter months.
Inspired by other popular Niagara Parks events including the Pop-up Dinner Series and Namaste Niagara yoga and wellness program, events will include the Full Moon Dinner experience, MoonGlow: Lantern Building and Release Workshops and Sparkling Sundays:
