April 8, 2026

Niagara Parks

  • Rock scaling operations at Table Rock are scheduled for April 13 to 17, 2026
  • Work is part of Niagara Parks’ ongoing maintenance and supports the operation of the observation decks at Journey Behind the Falls and Niagara Parks Power Station + Tunnel

Niagara Falls, ON – With the long-awaited arrival of spring, Niagara Parks will begin its annual rock scaling operations along the Niagara Gorge wall on the Canadian side of the Horseshoe Falls. This essential maintenance work is scheduled to take place from Monday, April 13 to Friday, April 17, 2026, weather permitting.

Rock scaling involves the careful removal of loose rocks and debris that naturally accumulate over the winter months due to freeze-thaw conditions. Completing this work each spring helps maintain the integrity of the gorge wall and supports the continued operation of nearby Niagara Parks attractions, including Journey Behind the Falls and the Niagara Parks Power Station + Tunnel.

Temporary Traffic Diversion

In preparation for this work, a temporary traffic diversion will be in place along the Niagara Parkway in the Table Rock Centre area:

April 13 – 17, 2026

Northbound traffic along the Niagara Parkway, between the Bridge of Flowers pedestrian walkway at Table Rock Centre and the nearby centre median will be redirected into the southbound lane to allow for equipment setup. Traffic delays are expected to be minimal.

Cranes will be in place in the Table Rock area from April 13 to 17 to support work above the Journey Behind the Falls attraction and the Niagara Parks Power Station viewing platform. A separate crane associated with the Journey Behind the Falls tunnel restoration is already onsite and will remain until May 22, 2026. Visitors are asked to follow all posted signage and to avoid designated work zones during this time.
