Join Amy this October at McFarland House for exclusive Tea and Tasseomancy workshops. 

Indulge in a delightful tea service and unlock the secrets of tea leaf reading, also known as the art of Tasseomancy. 

Reading Tea Leaves

Tea is steeped in history and superstition, and reading fortunes with it hearkens back to days of the old divinatory art forms of the Shamans; interpreting symbols and formations made by random objects. Tasseomancy is the Art and Practice of divination by the interpretation of symbolic patterns made by tea leaves in a teacup.

Join Amy as she talks about how this ancient form of divination came to be the Art it is today. She will cover its rich history and origins, the tools used and the forms it is done in. At the end of the presentation, you will get to try your hand at the Art with supervision from Amy Lou, as well as have an exclusive tour with Amy Lou of her Museum of Tasseomancy, which will is displayed throughout the historic house.

 

Tickets are $60. In addition to the workshop, the ticket includes Afternoon Tea service, a small take home souvenir, and parking. Children aged 2 and under are free when accompanied by a paying adult. Please note, tickets for this event are non-refundable.

About Amy Lou Taylor

Amy Lou Taylor has been captivating audiences with her expertise in tea leaf reading for over 30 years. A certified Tea Sommelier with the Tea and Herbal Association of Canada (THAC), Amy’s extensive knowledge and passion for tasseomancy shine through in her workshops. She is also the creative force behind TAOTAT (The Art of Tea and Tasseomancy) and Mystic Teas & Brooms, celebrating the magical relationship between tea and artisanal brooms. 

McFarland House

For more than two centuries, McFarland House has stood as a monument to the impeccable demeanour, good taste and gracious living that epitomizes Niagara-on-the-Lake. Built at the turn of the 19th century by Scotsman John McFarland, the home was used as a military hospital during the War of 1812 by both the Americans and the British. Today, costumed interpreters provide guided tours of this historic home with several special events hosted throughout the year.
