Built in the 19th century, the McFarland House is a historic and monumental site that captivates visitors with its rich heritage, natural beauty, and culinary offerings. Today, the site offers a Conservatory Tea Room, as well as take-out and dine-in options. Experience the glass-enclosed Tea Room, where guests can indulge in freshly baked scones, delicate desserts, and a traditional afternoon tea experience. Conservatory Tea Room

Experience the perfect high tea afternoon at the McFarland House, featuring the stunning glass-enclosed tea room, elegant table arrangements and classy tea sets. Luxuriate in your visit by ordering the Traditional Afternoon Tea which includes sandwiches, fresh pastries, fruits, desserts and savoury tea of your choice.

Tea Room open Thursdays to Sundays from 12pm-4:30pm with the last seating at 3pm.

Counter Service

Personalize your McFarland House experience with a take-out order and choose your own perfect setting to enjoy the delicious variety of sandwiches and pastries. Enjoy a take-out order at one of our outdoor picnic areas or take it home.

Take-out is available daily from 11 a.m. – 4 p.m.


McFarland House Tours

Experience the captivating guided tours of McFarland House, a historical site that dates back to 1800 when it was built by John McFarland and his sons. Set on land granted to him by King George III, this distinguished establishment is among the rare structures in Niagara-on-the-Lake that predates the War of 1812.

Immerse yourself in the past as the tour takes you through the fascinating interiors, providing insight into the daily lives and customs of the household during that era. Discover the unique architecture, period furnishings, and intriguing stories that bring history to life.

To accommodate visitors, tours are offered every 30 minutes.
