The Niagara Parks Floral Showhouse is now featuring its spectacular summer display, which celebrates all things Canadian in honour of the nation’s 150th birthday and will run through to Friday, September 15.
The design of this year’s summer show is inspired by the natural vegetation and native plants found throughout Canada’s iconic natural landscapes, including birch, evergreens and river rock with splashes of red and white blooms to complete the festive display.
While at the Showhouse, guests can enjoy the site of the incredible Amorphophallus gigas, nicknamed “Gigas”, which has topped out at approximately 3.96 m (13 feet) high. A stunning recent development was the first-ever blooming of the Giant Voodoo Lily, a tall, skinny flower bud on the Gigas plant.
A visit to the Floral Showhouse would not be complete without a stroll through the Life on Display exhibit located just outside. Repurposed vintage pieces acquired from Durham Region’s former Cullen Miniature Village collection interpret cultivated life in Ontario over the past 150 years.
