Niagara Parks and Metrolinx Make it Easier to Experience the Best of Niagara

In time for Canada’s 150th birthday, Niagara Parks and Metrolinx are now making it easier for people to experience the fun and excitement of one of the country’s top tourism destinations: Niagara Parks and the Niagara Region.

Beginning on June 23, 2017, for as low as $25.00 for an individual ticket or $50.00 for a family of five*, visitors will be able to travel round-trip from downtown Toronto to Niagara using the seasonal GO Train service. The new partnership between Niagara Parks and Metrolinx introduces special travel packages that combine a round-trip GO Train ticket with access to the popular Niagara WEGO visitor transportation system and much more.

One round-trip ticket includes GO Train service to and from Niagara, with stops at Union, Exhibition, Port Credit, Oakville, Burlington and St. Catharines stations, as well as a two-day access pass to WEGO, the hop-on, hop-off tourism bus system that travels throughout Niagara Parks, the City of Niagara Falls and to the Town of Niagara-on-the Lake.

The new travel packages also help visitors enjoy the best of what Niagara Parks has to offer when planning their weekend getaways, offering discounted prices for both the Niagara Parks Adventure Pass and the WEGO Niagara-on-the-Lake Shuttle. The Niagara Parks Adventure Pass, includes admission to four incredible Niagara attractions – Journey Behind the Falls, Niagara’s Fury, White Water Walk and Hornblower Niagara Cruises – and over $100 in bonus coupons.

“From hiking to visiting a museum to viewing the region’s famous landscapes, Ontario’s 150th anniversary year is the perfect time to take advantage of the wide variety of activities offered in Niagara,” said Eleanor McMahon, Ontario Minister of Tourism, Culture and Sport. “This new partnership with Metrolinx will make the Niagara Region more accessible than ever before, seamlessly connecting visitors to discover and experience our province’s natural beauty, vibrant culture and rich heritage.”

“Our government is committed to building a better transit system that makes it easier for people to get where they need to go,” stated Steven Del Duca, Ontario Minister of Transportation. “Weekend GO Train service to Niagara is just one example of what we are doing to deliver a world-class transportation network that is improving the quality of life for Ontarians by making it easier to get out and explore new regions.”

“We are excited to be working with Metrolinx on this project, inviting visitors to immerse themselves in the rich history, world-renowned gardens, trails and pathways and breathtaking natural beauty that characterize Niagara Parks and the Niagara Region,” stated Janice Thomson, Chair of The Niagara Parks Commission. “Whether it is a day trip or a special weekend getaway, an action-packed adventure or a leisurely bike ride along the Niagara River Recreation Trail, be sure to take advantage of these new ticketing options when planning your visit to Niagara. We hope to see you this summer!”

“Taking the GO Train weekend service to and from Niagara Falls is an easy way to travel. There is so much to see and do in the Niagara Region and this new offer from Niagara Parks and Metrolinx is a great way for visitors to get on the GO and come explore the beauty of our Region,” said Jim Bradley, MPP St. Catharines.

Metrolinx provides weekend GO Train service to and from Niagara every summer so that customers can start and end their vacations with comfort and convenience. This year, there will be weekend service from June 23 to September 4 and over the Thanksgiving weekend, from October 6 to 9. Three Niagara-bound trips and four Toronto-bound trips will run on Saturdays, Sundays and holidays, and there will be one trip in each direction on Fridays. Trains running on Saturdays, Sundays and Mondays during the summer months will feature three bike cars with room for 18 bikes on each.
