Niagara Falls, ON – Niagara Parks, in partnership with the Niagara Parks Foundation, is inviting the community to roll up their sleeves and take part in the annual Community Tree Planting Day at Legends on the Niagara on Saturday, October 24, 2026, from 10 a.m. to noon.

This free, family-friendly event brings volunteers together to enjoy a fall morning outdoors, contribute to environmental sustainability and make a meaningful impact in the community.

Community Tree Planting Day supports Niagara Parks’ 10-year Urban Forestry Management Strategy, including its goal of planting 5,000 trees annually and achieving 35 per cent canopy cover by 2028. The strategy focuses on creating a healthier, more resilient urban forest that supports wildlife, reduces pollution and helps mitigate the impacts of flooding, erosion and climate change.

Community Tree Planting Day is made possible through generous donations to the Niagara Parks Foundation and its Toonies for Trees program, which allows the public to directly support Niagara Parks’ tree planting efforts. Trees for Life, a national charitable organization, also supports the Niagara Parks Foundation by providing funding through the Federal Government’s 2 Billion Trees Program.
Participants are encouraged to dress for the weather, as the event will take place rain or shine, except in the case of extreme weather. Niagara Parks will provide trees, tools and guidance to help participants plant the trees successfully. Tools are limited, so participants are encouraged to bring a shovel if they have one. Light snacks and refreshments will also be provided.

The event is free to attend; however, pre-registration is required. To learn more and to register, visit niagaraparks.com/treeplantingday.
