Niagara Falls, ON – The Niagara Falls Illumination Board will be illuminating the Canadian Horseshoe Falls red and white, while the American Falls will be lit up blue and gold on May 5, 2026, at 9:30 p.m. These illuminations are in celebration of the Montreal Canadiens and the Buffalo Sabres as the two teams get ready to face-off in the first game of their second round Stanley Cup Playoff series.
The Sabres’ return to the playoffs in 2026 marked the end of a 14 year absence, the longest postseason drought in NHL history, making their resurgence one of the league’s most notable storylines. The Montreal Canadiens secured their first series win since 2021 by defeating the Tampa Bay Lightning in a tightly contested seven game matchup.
