Fort Erie, ON – Niagara Parks is proud to partner with Niagara College to present A Shot of History at Old Fort Erie, a one-of-a-kind event that combines NC Craft beer samples by Niagara College Teaching Brewery with historically inspired food pairings and immersive storytelling, inviting guests to step back in time and discover life in Upper Canada during the War of 1812.
Brews, Bites and Ballads
As was customary in the British Army, soldiers stationed in Upper Canada during the War of 1812 were issued a daily beer ration as part of their provisions. Inspired by this historic tradition, guests will explore different areas of the old stone fort and enjoy a curated menu of five period-inspired dishes prepared by Niagara Parks’ talented culinary team, each paired with a sampling of NC Craft beer.
Highlights include a Three Sisters Stew featuring corn, beans and squash, served alongside NC Craft IPA and a Bison Slider topped with blueberry chutney and caramelized onions, paired with NC Craft Light Lager. Throughout the evening, historical interpreters will share fascinating stories about beer, rations, and daily life in Upper Canada during the War of 1812, while live black-powder demonstrations bring the sights and sounds of the era to life. Live music will enhance the atmosphere, creating an unforgettable evening that brings together history, food and local craft brewing in one of Niagara’s most historic settings.
A Shot of History will take place at Old Fort Erie on Saturday, August 22 from 7 to 10 p.m. and is a 19+ event. Tickets include admission, five 4-oz samples of beer, and five food pairings to complement each beer selection. Additional NC Craft beers will be available for purchase.
Free parking is available at the Old Fort Erie Welcome Centre. Tickets are $90 per person and can be purchased here.
