Niagara Falls, ON – Niagara Parks, in partnership with the Niagara Parks Foundation and Trees for Life, is pleased to host the annual Community Tree Planting Day at Legends on the Niagara golf course, between 10 a.m. and noon on Saturday, October 25, 2025.

This free, family-friendly event is a wonderful opportunity to enjoy the outdoors, contribute to environmental sustainability and to make a meaningful impact in the community.

Niagara Parks’ commitment to planting 5,000 trees annually is part of its Urban Forestry Management Strategy. The goal is to increase canopy cover to 35% by 2028 throughout the entire 56-kilometre Niagara River corridor. The Urban Forestry Management Strategy includes goals to improve forest health, increase canopy cover, increase species and habitat biodiversity, mitigate the impacts of invasive species and climate change, increase awareness and promote stewardship.

Community Tree Planting Day is made possible through generous donations to the Niagara Parks Foundation and its Toonies for Trees program, which allows the public to directly support Niagara Parks’ tree planting efforts. Trees for Life, a national charitable organization, has also selected the Niagara Parks Foundation as its official Planting Partner for 2025, providing funding through the Federal Government’s 2 Billion Trees Program, that will help Niagara Parks realize its annual goal of planting a minimum of 5,000 trees.

Attendees are encouraged to dress appropriately for the weather, as the event will take place rain or shine (except in cases of extreme weather). Niagara Parks staff will supply trees, tools and guidance to ensure participants have everything needed to plant their trees successfully. Note that tools are limited; guests who own shovels are encouraged to bring them. Light snacks and refreshments will be provided. The event is free to attend; however, pre-registration is required.
